Beautiful butterflies..........

We are so lucky that where we live we get to see a lot of nature. Our sons are always "catching" things....toads, froggies, caterpillars.....don't worry we always let them go fairly quickly.

A couple of weeks ago Quin found a couple of fuzzy caterpillars. We had them in the big bug jar and before we knew it they turned into cocoons. So we've been watching and waiting...finally today they hatched. It was so fun.

I managed to get some video, hope you enjoy.

Summertime!!!

What is my problem????
I just can't seem to get into the studio!!!
Is it being in Minnesota...now that it's summer I just feel obligated to be outside.

Am I just burned out, uninspired??? Not sure.

Well, don't think I have given up art or anything. I've just been a bit absent.

Hubby the kids and I have been having a lot of fun fishing, gardening and just playing though.

Hope everyone is having a great summer so far!

I'll be checking in soon with some art....I promise.

Thanks for peeking.

Enough already!

Our sweet puppy Lily!!!!

Such a proud girl.

Lily and her favorite "flea" toy.

2003 with baby Quin

I feel like my blog has turned into the story of the tragedies that seem to continually happen to us.

"Crown Jewel Lil' Mary Sunshine"

Lily hangin' with the boys.

Lily with Ozzie the cat.

Yesterday afternoon I noticed our doggie sitting out on the deck in the rain letting herself get wet, she hates being wet so it struck me. I called her in and it was like she was walking in slow motion. She was soooo tired and weak, she just walked over to the living room and laid down.
I kept trying to get her to sit up, but she just wanted to lay. When I called my husband at work I told him it really seemed like something was very wrong with her.
He rushed home from work and brought her into the vet, she was already going into shock. Poor baby. I guess she had a bunch of cancerous tumors in her spleen that burst yesterday.

We had to have her put to sleep, it's so sad I can't stand it.

We were all there with her, our 6 year old son was so hysterical, but he really wanted to be there with Lily. We've had Lily for 11 years and she's been a great, funny, goofy, annoying, stinky, very lovable dog. We are going to miss her SO much.

I'm so grateful for all the fun years we had with her, but I wish she didn't have to go now.

Please God...if you are listening (or reading my blog) enough is enough.

What a beautiful day.

We caught a lot of little guys and then Papa caught a really good size big mouth bass.

Such an intense look.....very serious fishing here people.

Sneaking some diet coke when nobody is looking. :)

Early morning visitor....

My hubbie and I were feeling great about getting most of the garden all done.....feeling pretty proud of ourselves. We got all the main vegies in and most of the flowers, got some nice rain...things were looking pretty darn good......UNTIL.........

Helloooooooooo!

Look how innocent she looks!!!

She ate 6 tomato plants, 1 beet plant, 1 chard plant and some random flowers!!!!
UGH!

I know I know...she is really cute, and I do sort of love her, but geez.

So, I guess it's back to the greenhouse this week for us....and more planting.

Who's got some good "keep the deer out of the garden" advice????

Thanks for peeking.

p.s. And yes...I am trying to get my butt in the studio to paint.

Hello!

Anyone who has read my blog for a bit knows that I am adopted and that I searched out my birth mom in 2007 and found her!!
I am so grateful to now know who she is and where she is, and I am lucky to slowly be getting to know her. She got married not long after placing me for adoption and had 2 sons that are a few years younger than I am. I actually share the exact same birthday with one of them.
Well, anyway yesterday I talked to one of my birth brothers for the first time ever!!!!! It was so great to hear his voice and just talk a bit. He said the sweetest thing.... " i just want to get to know you and hear what you have been doing like....your whole life". Isn't that just the nicest thing to say!!!! So excited to see what the future will hold.

Also, YEAH kindergarten is OVER!!!! Summer fun is here, no more alarm clocks for awhile!

Thought I should share this picture of Quin after he lost that 4th tooth. Lookin good!

This is what Gray decided he should wear while waiting for the bus to bring brother home, pretty spiffy huh.

And here is the farewell picture of the boys walking up the driveway on the last day of school.
LOVE THEM!

Have a terrific weekend!!

Little update....

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things here at home have finally slowed down and come back around to "normal".
Everyone is feeling well (knock on wood) and the weather has been awesome!

(my youngest son trusts no one and has a very serious look on his face)

I haven't gotten back into the swing of things with painting, but I have some ideas floating around my head. My husband is off for the next few days so I am going to sit in the studio and get some work done.

The kids and I have been spending a lot of time at the playgrounds absorbing this great weather and sunshine.....it feels SO GOOD.

My oldest son (6) has had a loose tooth for a couple of weeks now and really we have all been held hostage by it. He won't let you look at it, talk about it, brush anywhere near it....nothing. All his food has had to be cut up into teeny tiny pieces, it really started getting on my nerves. So on Wednesday we went to the gym and while I worked out the boys played some soccer and things. When I came to pick them up I was informed that he had lost his tooth and that everyone was looking for it. Apparently his tooth got caught on a soccer goal net and was yanked out and flung off somewhere. :)
He really wasn't that freaked out about how it happened but was more concerned about finding it. We never did find it. I told him we should give them a few days to find it and then we'll write a note to the tooth fairy.
Finally......IT'S GONE!!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Hopefully I'll have some new art to share soon.
Thanks for peeking.
